About the role As Senior Storage Engineer, you will manage assigned projects and provide support relating to ABC storage infrastructure that aligns with ABC strategy and supports the achievement of Enterprise Technology and Platforms objectives. You will be required to provide second and third level technical support to agreed ABC service levels and participate in 24x7 on call support as rostered. Key responsibilities Under broad direction of the Storage and Database Platforms Team Leader, develop and maintain ABC’s Storage infrastructure, including Storage Area Networks (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), storage arrays, fibre switches, data protection and other storage services. Provide technical leadership to the team, explore new technologies (including Cloud), and proactively identify and implement improvements to modernise Storage capabilities. Manage assigned projects within agreed timeframes and to the required standards to ensure achievement of team’s objectives. Provide progress reports including management reports as required. Maintain detailed technical knowledge of ABC’s Storage infrastructure; and create and maintain technical standards and support documentation. Provide specialist advice and consultation to internal clients and management on very complex technology issues involved in the planning, implementation and management of storage and backup systems. Support the Storage and Database Platforms Team Leader by providing development, guidance, support and supervision to team members to build and maintain a collaborative and high-performance culture. About you Significant experience in the implementation, configuration and administration of enterprise-grade storage hardware and backup solutions with detailed understanding of storage infrastructure, including SAN, NAS, storage virtualisation, data protection and replication technologies. Demonstrated significant experience in the design, implementation, management and support of the following areas: Net App FAS/AFF platforms (ONTAP 9) or IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM)Ansible, Power Shell and/or Unix shell scripting The following additional skills would be highly regarded: Hitachi Vantara Enterprise and Modular arrays Brocade fibre channel switches and fabric configuration VMware v Sphere / virtualisation IBM Tape Libraries AWS S3, Glacier, Snowball, EBS and Storage Gateway Demonstrated significant experience working with at least one server operating system, such as Linux and/or Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2022, with a preference for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Demonstrated significant experience designing, coordinating, implementing and performing a technical lead role (including risk analysis) on large scale projects to deliver solutions to clients in conformity to standards in a complex business and technical environment. Familiarity with or experience in ITIL based environments is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey very complex storage technology concepts and present confidently to a wide variety of audiences. Excellent analytical and time management skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
