The Firm & The Role
Our client is a leading corporate law firm. The commercial/IT team is expanding and due to new clients and new matters, the partner of the team is looking to recruit an experienced corporate/commercial lawyer with experience in IT and telecommunications law as well as experience in privacy, digital privacy and cyber security. You have at least 2 years post admission experience.
Our client and this team acts for ASX-listed companies, international corporations, start-ups, government agencies, high profile individuals, entrepreneurs, well known IT, telco and media companies that are household names.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advising on privacy, data protection and cyber security
- Providing regulatory compliance advice to telecommunication companies
- Handling M&A transactions for clients in the TMT industries
- Managing e-commerce and off-shore outsourcing matters
- Drafting licensing & joint venture agreements
- Overseeing IT transactions
- Assisting clients with regulatory investigations and enforcements
- Managing tender and procurement agreements
- Providing advice on competition and trade practices issues
- Delivering general commercial and corporate advice to clients in the IT, telecommunications and media industries
This role will see you having partner access but you will also have autonomy and appropriate levels of client responsibility for your level. You will be working on cutting edge transactions and there is opportunity for you to go on client secondments.
Skills & Experience
- At least 2 years post-admission experience in commercial law with a focus on IT, TMT, privacy, and competition/trade practices
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent technical skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
