The Opportunity
As a valued member of our Roadside & Drainage team, you’ll lead and coordinate the delivery of road and drainage construction, maintenance and associated infrastructure work across Port Stephens. With a focus on safety, quality and efficiency, you’ll guide a team of Council and contract staff to deliver civil projects that support our growing community.
Permanent Full‑Time opportunity – 38 hours per week with flexible arrangements.
Base Salary Range: $73,236 – $86,085 per annum (38 hours) + 12% superannuation + $2,464 retention allowance.
Work from Council’s Depot, Raymond Terrace.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach and mentor a Roadside & Drainage team to deliver safe, high‑quality projects.
Plan, supervise and deliver road, drainage and related civil works within agreed budgets and timeframes.
Ensure compliance with Council’s safety, quality and environmental systems.
Manage resources effectively, including staff, contractors, plant and materials.
Support continuous improvement and positive engagement with staff and the community.
Qualifications
A Certificate IV in Local Government (Operational Work) or equivalent experience.
Extensive experience in civil construction and maintenance (roads, drainage, footpaths, cycleways).
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
Proven ability to interpret plans and specifications, manage projects and maintain accurate records.
