2624 About the role Reporting to the Program Manager Koorie, the Koorie Student Support Officers will provide a range of welfare monitoring and intervention supports to assist Koorie students to commence, continue and successfully complete their studies.
These positions work closely with teachers and managers to engage, retain and support the success of Koorie students, delivering highly valued support strategies that enhance student retention, success, and overall student experience.
The roles act as the first point of contact for Koorie students and provide direct support, including referrals to appropriate services where required.
This is an Indigenous identified position and only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This position represents a special measure in accordance with s8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and s12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).
Qualifications and Experience Strong connections with, and experience working alongside, the Koorie Community, with an understanding of community networks and supports.
Significant recent experience, understanding and involvement in Koorie and/or mainstream post-secondary qualification (e.g.
Koorie Studies, Education, Community Services) is desirable.
