The Steward Supervisor is responsible for coordinating all kitchenhands and kitchen hygiene operations to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. This role supports the culinary team by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and compliance with WHS and food safety regulations while supervising kitchenhand staff.
THE ROLE
Oversee daily cleaning and sanitation of kitchens, dishwashing areas, storage rooms, cool rooms, and equipment.
Ensure correct operation of dishwashing equipment and safe handling of chemicals.
Maintain cleanliness standards in line with Food Safety Programs and HACCP principles.
Supervise, train, and allocate duties to kitchen hand staff.
Monitor performance, attendance, and presentation of kitchenhand staff.
Assist with onboarding and ongoing training of new staff.
Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, safe work procedures, and risk controls.
Enforce correct manual handling, PPE use, and chemical safety procedures.
Report hazards, incidents, and maintenance issues promptly.
Monitor and manage cleaning supplies, chemicals, and consumables.
Maintain inventory levels and place orders as required.
Identify equipment faults and coordinate repairs or maintenance.
