The Position

We're looking for a full-time Staff Specialist - Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join this New South Wales hospital on a permanent full-time basis.


As a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, you will have a personal commitment to providing an effective and efficient inpatient and outpatient service and an unequivocal dedication to working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This position offers a broad experience in all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.


You will have a demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and to providing supervision and training to learners at all levels. With over 500 births a year the maternity service is a dynamic and important part of the health service.


Maternity services are provided to the community through the collaboration of Specialist Obstetricians, Midwives, GP Obstetricians, Child and Family Health, Aboriginal Maternal & Infant Health Service, Perinatal Mental Health and Specialist Paediatric services. The hospital is a level 4 role delineated regional maternity service with a level 3 special care nursery.

Health Service


This health service provides allied health, ambulatory care, coronary care, emergency medicine (26,000 presentations a year), intensive care, general medicine, mental health drug & alcohol, obstetrics & gynaecology, oncology, paediatrics, pathology, radiology, rehabilitation and surgery services. The service also has active hospital in the home and primary community health services to the surrounding townships.


The Location


A comfortable and scenic 2.5 hour drive from Sydney, this is Australia’s oldest inland colonial settlement and is close enough to feel accessible to the big city, but far enough away to feel relaxed & spacious. With a population of around 45, 000 people, this vibrant city has everything you need if you are looking for a place to call home.


Facilities include a very busy entertainment centre, regional art gallery, conservatorium, 3 museums, a cinema and a multitude of sporting facilities. A large shopping precinct, strong café scene and great local pubs and restaurants are only part of the great community infrastructure that supports the community.


Essential Criteria

  • Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist, and/or overseas trained specialist via the appropriate International Medical Graduate pathway.

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists.

  • Be available to participate in an on-call roster as required and to respond on-site within a reasonable time.

    • The Package

  • Remuneration: $186,241 to $229,825 pa

  • The total remuneration package (which includes salary, superannuation, TESL and other allowances) is $365,000 to $400,000.

  • This position qualifies for a Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $5,000.

  • Relocation and accommodation assistance.

  • Attractive Salary Package, up to 5 weeks Annual Leave with 4 weeks leave including 17.5% leave loading; 5 weeks per year Training Education and Study Leave (TESL), and 10 days paid sick leave per year (dependent on classification).

  • To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued at $5,000 (as taxable income).
