Join to apply for the Solutions Engineer role at Design Build
Solutions Engineer – EV Charging Infrastructure
Salary: $170,000 – $190,000 + Equity (ESOP)
Location: Major Eastern Australian Cities (Remote with travel)
Type: Full-time | Hybrid
Shape the Charging Solutions That Unlock Australia's EV Future — join a fast‐moving clean energy scale‐up building smarter EV charging solutions that unlock the potential of power grids. This team develops innovative technology that enables charging where traditional solutions fall short. As national growth accelerates, we're looking for a Solutions Engineer to bridge ambition and execution — helping customers move from idea to implementation. You'll work remotely from Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane, with travel to customer sites when needed. It's more than pre‐sales; it's a hands‐on, high‐impact role that helps customers see what's possible and brings complex projects to life.
About the Role
As the technical lead in the sales process, you'll help customers move from "we're not sure how to make this work" to "we're ready to deploy." You'll collaborate with fleet operators, councils, utilities, and infrastructure partners to design solutions that overcome site and grid constraints, accelerate connections, and enable electrification at scale.
A Typical Day May Include
Reviewing site load profiles and grid data.
Sketching a single line diagram with a customer.
Leading a whiteboard session with a delivery or design engineer.
Preparing proposal materials that articulate value and technical differentiation.
Navigating early‐phase design and connection approvals.
You'll also help build the tools, processes, and technical frameworks that enable scalable growth — directly shaping how customers transition to electric fleets and infrastructure.
What You'll Bring
Solid background in solutions engineering, technical sales, or infrastructure delivery.
Strong electrical knowledge, particularly across HV and LV systems and grid connection pathways.
Experience collaborating with utilities, DNSPs, or other power network stakeholders.
Confidence sketching and explaining single line diagrams and load profiles.
Clear communication style — able to simplify complex ideas for diverse audiences.
Collaborative, team‐first mindset with cross‐functional experience.
Problem‐solving attitude and comfort working in evolving, fast‐paced environments.
Openness to feedback and commitment to continuous learning.
Flexibility to travel across Australia, with occasional trans‐Tasman trips if required.
What You'll Get
Ownership of a critical technical function supporting national electrification efforts.
Opportunity to help fleets, councils, and utilities overcome real‐world barriers to decarbonisation.
A purpose‐driven, no‐ego culture that values teamwork and autonomy.
Direct impact on projects that matter for people, progress, and the planet.
Equity participation (ESOP) — share in the success you help build.
Flexible work structure designed around outcomes, not hours.
Room to grow as the business scales internationally.
Why This Role Matters
Electrification is accelerating — but the infrastructure challenge is real. This role sits at the intersection of technology, energy, and engineering, helping customers move faster and smarter toward an electric future. If you're motivated by solving complex technical challenges and want your work to make a visible impact on Australia's clean energy transition, we'd love to hear from you.
