Base pay range A$100.00/hr - A$140.00/hr Direct message the job poster from Verse2024 Sourcr Best Recruiter WA - IT/ Telecommunications | Senior Consultant - Applications at Verse Group About the Role An experienced Simulation Engineer is sought to support delivery of a high-impact battery-electric locomotive program within a forward-thinking engineering team. This role will suit someone who enjoys solving complex multi-physics problems and is passionate about using simulation tools to drive real-world engineering decisions around decarbonisation, electrification, and hybridisation. This is a career-shaping opportunity to work on a strategically important greenfield program, contributing to technology pathway selection and high-level control design through simulation-led insight. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, technically excellent team and report to a senior lead. You should have Minimum of 5 years’ experience developing simulations of physical systems Demonstrated capability in Simulink, Simscape, MATLAB and/or Python Strong understanding of control philosophies and multi-domain system modelling A tertiary qualification in Engineering (Electrical or Mechatronics preferred)A track record of delivering simulation tools that inform key engineering and design decisions Experience with testing, verification, and validation of simulation outputs Familiarity with embedded systems, and Si L / Hi L frameworks Nice to have Experience in the rail or heavy vehicle sector Proficiency in C/C++Key Responsibilities Build and refine simulation models to represent locomotive behaviour and interactions with railcars Support electrification and hybridisation initiatives by developing tools that quantify technical trade-offs Develop validation plans to ensure model accuracy and fidelity Generate insights to guide engineering design, control strategies, and technology pathway selection Collaborate with engineering leads and project stakeholders to integrate simulation outputs into decision-making Contribute to a growing team working across future-forward decarbonisation programs The Benefits Up to $140 per hour (plus superannuation)Work on a nationally significant project with future opportunities across a wider portfolio Initial contract position with long-term growth potential One day per week working from home Exposure to embedded systems, control design, and advanced modelling technologies Collaborative team environment with technical leadership and career development Two-round interview process with direct reporting line to project lead How to Apply If this opportunity resonates with you, please apply.
