$75 - $100 per hour + Super

Role Overview:

The Senior Lawyer will be responsible for providing legal advice and services in areas such as administrative law, legislative interpretation, and the legislation administered by the client. The role also involves representing the client in courts and tribunals, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and ensuring compliance with privacy and information access laws. The Senior Lawyer will also contribute to legislative projects, develop training materials, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing legal advice on legislation administered.
  • Drafting legal documents like submissions, advice, and briefing notes.
  • Identifying emerging legal issues and offering solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Keeping up-to-date with relevant legislation and case law.
  • Contributing to the education and awareness of legal matters within the organisation.
  • Admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW.

About You:

This role would suit a qualified lawyer with experience in State government law or privacy law who is comfortable working independently and managing legal matters within a public sector environment. The ideal candidate would be someone who is highly organised, has strong communication skills, and is capable of handling a variety of complex legal issues in a fast-paced and evolving environment. To be successful in this role you would also possess:

  • A law degree and admission as a legal practitioner in NSW.
  • A current practising certificate or eligibility to hold one.
  • Experience in administrative law, government law, or privacy and information access legislation.
  • Strong research, drafting, and legal advisory skills.
  • Experience in representing clients in courts or tribunals.
  • Experience in litigation and working in a legal advisory capacity.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing legal risks.
