The Role

We're looking for a scientist with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver optimisation solutions across Tas Water's treatment and network systems. This role provides an unique opportunity to lead innovative and technological initiatives as well as using your technical expertise and scientific methodology to improve the performance and sustainability of our operations. You'll work across teams to apply innovative scientific methods, drive system improvements, and deliver critical support to operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Optimise treatment and network systems through detailed analysis of reliability, risk, quality, and cost, and support capital project identification
  • Support Operations staff with protocols, mentoring, and technical guidance to build system compliance and performance ownership
  • Lead and support trials of innovative technologies aimed at improving treatment outcomes and reducing risk
  • Apply scientific principles and methodologies to investigate and resolve complex water and wastewater challenges
  • Promote a strong safety culture by adhering to Zero Harm principles and supporting health, safety, and environmental standards

What we're looking for

We are seeking an experienced and driven engineering professional to support the delivery of high-quality water and sewerage system solutions. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, practical problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.

  • Degree in Science (relevant to this team/discipline) or equivalent competency
  • In-depth understanding of scientific concepts and principles pertaining to water and sewerage assets
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and advise on technical plans and drawings
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and Codes of Practice
  • Substantial experience applying professional scientific methodology and problem-solving skills.

The Details

This role is preferably based in Hobart, but we are open to considering candidates in Launceston and Devonport. This role attracts a salary of $98,340.52 - $103,803.89 (inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
