We are looking for an experienced RGN/RMN to work in our nursing home.
WE DO NOT TAKE AGENCY REFERRALS AND NO SPONSORSHIP IS OFFERED FOR THIS POSITION.
We are looking for 2-3 dedicated registered general or mental health nurses to work one shift of 12.25 hours per week or 1-2 to work more hours (there is the possibility of picking up extra hours during peak holiday times should you wish). You will ideally have some experience of working with people with mental health needs; however, this is not a necessary requirement.
Main Duties of the JobYour main duties will include:
- Taking responsibility for, and effectively supervising the day-to-day running of your shift and ensuring that the care is of a high standard at all times, bringing any issues to the attention of the nursing home manager.
- Being aware of each service user's needs.
- Being the named nurse for a small number of service users and taking responsibility for updating their care plans and liaising with their key worker to ensure all needs are being met.
- Leading a team of Health Care Assistants in carrying out their roles, with the help of senior carers during the shift.
- Carrying out medication rounds.
- Attending monthly nurses meetings.
- Attending training sessions required for your role.
- Communicating with outside agencies and healthcare services to provide the best outcomes for our residents and maintain good relationships with local health care providers.
We provide care for 26 residents aged 50+ with a range of mental health needs, learning disabilities, and challenging behaviours. We are a family-run nursing home dedicated to providing a happy and safe environment, giving each of our residents as much choice as possible over their care and daily routines.
Person Specification Qualifications- You must be a registered mental health or general nurse with a valid NMC PIN, with no restrictions to work.
- The ability to assess care needs and produce care plans for residents that reflect their needs and wishes is essential. Many of our residents have advanced dementia and mental health diagnoses, which can make it difficult for them to express their wishes at times. We are looking for nurses who can help our residents maintain a good and satisfying quality of life and be cared for in the way they would like, which also meets their needs.
- Basic IT skills are required for this job, as we now use electronic care planning and medication systems. Training will be provided in our systems.
- You must have experience working within a team and be able to communicate effectively with staff, residents, and other professionals.
- Experience working with, or knowledge of, the needs of those with dementia and mental health diagnoses would be desirable but is not essential.
