Introduction The Platform Engineer (Infrastructure Specialist) will be responsible for managing the day-to-day health, stability, and performance of the Azure-based infrastructure platform. This role will focus on maintaining and supporting virtual machines (RHEL and Windows), patching processes, monitoring integration, backup validation, and general infrastructure lifecycle tasks aligned with Microsoft best practices and client-specific policies. Your Role And Responsibilities Perform operational support for production and non-production servers hosted on Microsoft Azure. Manage and maintain system availability, performance, and patch compliance using Azure-native tools and automation. Ensure adherence to tagging policies, RBAC controls, NSG configurations, and HA/DR practices as per Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF). Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related incidents (L2/L3), including VM performance, boot failures, and network reachability. Collaborate with the client’s service desk and change management functions to fulfill service requests and planned changes. Integrate with the existing monitoring framework (Azure Monitor + Dynatrace) to ensure platform observability and proactive incident response. Participate in the review and implementation of hardening recommendations within the scope of service agreement. Support cloud-native backup and recovery validation activities; raise concerns if protection gaps are identified. Contribute to infrastructure documentation and knowledge base articles to support operational continuity and knowledge transfer. Preferred Education Bachelor's Degree Required Technical And Professional Expertise Must have an active AGSVA Baseline Clearance, preferably AGSVA NV1 or eligible to obtain one. Must be an Australian Citizen. Able to work from the designated office 5 days a week. Preference for candidates willing to relocate to Ballarat.2+ years of hands-on experience managing infrastructure in a Microsoft Azure environment. Proficiency in supporting RHEL and Windows Server virtual machines. Strong understanding of Azure Iaa S services including VMs, storage, load balancers, NSGs, and availability zones. Experience with infrastructure patching using Azure tools (Update Management, Azure Automation). Familiarity with monitoring tools, particularly Azure Monitor and Dynatrace. Solid troubleshooting skills across compute, networking, and OS issues. Understanding of ITIL processes (incident, change, problem, configuration management). Preferred Technical And Professional Experience Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Dev Ops Engineer, or equivalent. Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or similar. Experience in government or highly regulated environments. Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Ia C) using Terraform or ARM templates.
