Based in Sydney, or other locations considered, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading Construction Group in the important position of Engineering Design Manager.
The primary functions of the role are to:
- Manage design and engineering solutions that meet required outcomes.
- Prepare EOI's and Tenders, method statements, and construction documentation.
- Lead the development of design documents that meet time, constructability, performance, and quality objectives.
- Plan and manage the interface between design and delivery teams.
A civil/structural or mechanical qualification is required combined with a minimum of 10-15 years construction experience, including a minimum of 5 years' experience in Design and/or Design Management. Structures and Bridges will be the main areas of work.
Design Constructability skills are imperative to your success in the role. Managing the Design Consultant, you must have a proven ability to work between the Design Team and the Delivery Team, ensuring the designers are building what the contractors want to build, all within budget. The design output must meet the budget. Furthermore, you must be able to negotiate and manage commercial outcomes.
On a personal level, you are required to work independently as you travel between Sydney and other locations. Additionally, your employer works in JV's, so you must be comfortable in this environment.
This role is also an opportunity to "step up" into Design Management for the right person if you are not already a Design Manager.
