The Opportunity
We are looking for experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our client, a successful long-running 100% Australian manufacturer of world-class steel blade and cutting products for over 45 years. Reporting to the engineering manager, your role is to provide effective maintenance and repair of plant and equipment to achieve plant reliability, cost efficiency, and to ensure safety and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Preventative maintenance with a focus on safety and maximising production.
- Respond and investigate breakdown work, minimising downtime.
- Install new equipment and relocate existing equipment.
- Work on a range of equipment involved in metal machining and milling.
- Contribute to continuous improvement.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in toolbox and team meetings and maintain workplace relationships.
- Support the training and development of apprentices through mentoring.
You will need:
- Formal trade qualifications as a Mechanical Fitter and Turner.
- Minimum 3 years mechanical fitting experience (including general machining), working in a heavy industrial environment.
- Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics would be highly regarded.
- Commitment to producing quality products.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to work in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Maintain and use mechanical equipment as designed and effectively diagnose and fault-find mechanical equipment.
- Inspect, analyse and record critical mechanical information during the process of undertaking preventative maintenance work.
This is a full-time permanent position with an hourly rate up to $45/hr depending on experience, with reasonable amounts of overtime available if wanted. Very stable company with a long-term staff and a long history of quality Australian-made products.
