About the opportunity
As a Principal Statutory Planner, you'll have the unique opportunity to drive sustainable growth and create a lasting impact on our vibrant community. Join us and be at the forefront of planning and development in one of Victoria's most dynamic regions.
In this role, you will be a key figure in assessing complex planning proposals, mentoring and guiding junior staff members, and taking on an important leadership role within the team. Your extensive knowledge and experience will be applied to a Planning Scheme that covers a diverse landscape, including activity centres, state-significant agricultural and industrial land, and suburbs and townships with unique character and values.
You will make an impact by
- Contributing to the development and implementation of an integrated strategic planning framework for Cardinia Shire.
- Achieving soundly based and sustainable outcomes for the natural and built environment and the wellbeing of the community.
- Establishing strong working relationships with the internals stakeholders to support growth and development.
- Coordinating large statutory planning projects to support a sustainable economic future for residents.
- Preparing and presenting submissions to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal regarding application reviews.
What you will bring
- A tertiary qualification in planning or a related discipline with a relevant major (such as geography) and several years' experience in statutory planning.
- Well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social, economic, environmental and political context of an interface council.
- Extensive experience in planning practice with an excellent knowledge of the Victorian planning system and the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
- Ability to effectively liaise and collaborate with a diverse range of staff, management, and key stakeholders on complex applications and projects.
- Ability to mentor, lead and guide others.
