Our client is seeking a dedicated Claims Officer to manage a diverse range of claims, primarily property claims. This role offers the opportunity to utilise best practice standards and model litigant principles in managing claims from initial assessment to negotiation and settlement. The successful candidate will be part of an organisation that drives government priorities through expert advice and services, contributing to the growth of the Queensland economy.
What you'll do:
- Apply best practice principles, process, and manage a portfolio of claims from receipt to finalisation.
- Monitor and update the Claims Management System ensuring continual data integrity.
- Represent the organisation in settlement conferences, provide instructions to solicitors and investigators.
- Participate as a member of the claims team.
- Draft correspondence including internal submissions.
- Negotiate appropriate direct settlement of claims with insured, claimant or solicitor.
- Maintain professional working relationships with Insured Government agencies.
- Prepare reports, summaries, and submissions with respect to claims.
What you bring:
- Experience in managing claims, particularly sensitive claims.
- Sound understanding of liability and causation principles.
- Knowledge of applicable case law.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building enduring relationships.
