Overview

The Experienced Occupational Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, client‐centred occupational therapy services to individuals across the lifespan. The role involves assessment, intervention planning, therapy delivery, and reporting. The OT works independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support clients in achieving their goals, enhancing independence, and improving quality of life. The position may include supervision of junior therapists and students, contributing to service development, and providing specialist knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' functional capacity, sensory, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
Develop and implement individualized therapy plans aligned with client goals.
Deliver evidence‐based interventions in homes, clinics, schools, or community settings.
Provide functional capacity assessments, assistive technology prescription, and home modifications.
Prepare clinical reports, funding applications (e.g., NDIS), and progress updates within required timelines.
Monitor and review therapy outcomes and adjust plans as required.
Build strong relationships with clients, families, carers, and support networks.
Educate clients and support systems about therapy goals, strategies, and outcomes.
Liaise with external stakeholders including support coordinators, NDIS planners, educators, GPs, and other allied health professionals.
Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to junior staff and students.
Contribute to the induction and training of new team members.
Support service development initiatives and quality improvement.
Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical records.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, codes of ethics, and professional standards.
Uphold privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of all clients.

Selection Criteria

Bachelor or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist.
Minimum 1 year of post‐graduate experience.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage a clinical caseload.
Strong knowledge of functional assessments, NDIS processes, and evidence-based interventions.
Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
Valid Working With Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
Experience working within the NDIS framework.
Skills in assistive technology prescription and home modifications.
Training in sensory integration, positive behaviour support, or mental health.
Previous experience in supervising junior staff or students.
