Nursery Hand (Nursery Technician)
Tenure: Fixed Term until 11 December 2026, with the possibility of becoming ongoing for the right applicant.
FTE: 0.30
Ranges TEC is seeking a passionate, reliable and hands-on Nursery Hand (Nursery Technician) to join our team commencing in Term 2, 2026, or as soon as possible. This 0.30 FTE position (Wednesday full day and Friday afternoon) is offered initially as a fixed term trial position, with the potential to become ongoing for the right candidate.
This role is based at our vibrant Christian vocational training campus in Melbourne's outer east, including our 11-acre training farm in Monbulk, where students undertake practical learning in Horticulture and Building & Construction as part of the Victorian Certificate of Education - Vocational Major (VCE VM).
As a Nursery Hand, you will play an important role in maintaining and developing our operational nursery while working alongside our Horticulture Teacher and Maintenance Manager. You will also support students as they engage in authentic, hands-on horticultural learning experiences that prepare them for meaningful work and service.
Your work will combine practical nursery management with relational engagement, contributing to an environment where students can grow in skill, confidence and character. About Ranges TEC

The Role
As a Nursery Hand (Nursery Technician), you will contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of our nursery and horticultural spaces while supporting student learning in practical settings. Key Responsibilities
Maintaining the nursery, including potting, propagation, planting and planning
Managing watering systems, weed control and pest management
Supporting plant sales and presentation of nursery stock
Organising tools and maintaining cleanliness of the Nursery She
Working collaboratively with the Horticulture Teacher and Maintenance Manager.
Assisting small groups of students with nursery management task
Supporting students within the horticulture classroom where required
Working both independently and as part of a team
This is a practical, active role suited to someone who enjoys outdoor work, values teamwork, and is passionate about mentoring young people in a vocational setting. Key Selection Criteria
A practising Christian who is committed to a biblically informed worldview and the integration of faith and learning
An active member of a local church fellowship
Demonstrated experience or knowledge in horticulture, nursery work, or plant production
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team
Confidence working alongside and supporting small groups of students
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to professional conduct and Christian role modelling.
