Due to the ongoing growth and business expansion, we are currently seeking a qualified Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our team.
Role Overview
As a Diesel Motor Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing diesel engines and heavy vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and other diesel-powered equipment. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment. You will work closely with a team of experienced mechanics to ensure all vehicles are maintained to a high standard, meet safety requirements, and are returned to customers in a timely manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines, heavy vehicles, trucks, and trailers using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Dismantle diesel engines, transmissions, steering systems, and related components to inspect, assess wear, and determine repair requirements.
• Repair, replace, and reassemble damaged or worn components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and workshop standards.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, engine tuning, and system checks to ensure optimal vehicle performance and compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
• Rebuild engines and major components following repairs and conduct thorough testing to ensure reliability and correct operation.
• Use computer-based diagnostic systems to test vehicle systems, identify faults, and confirm repair outcomes.
• Perform post-repair testing, adjustments, and inspections to ensure vehicles meet operational and safety requirements before release.
• Inspect vehicles for roadworthiness and identify or report work required to achieve compliance where applicable.
• Respond to breakdowns or urgent repair requirements as needed, providing efficient and reliable mechanical support.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment in line with WHS policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Technology or equivalent
Skills and Requirements:
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic or in a similar role
• Proven experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical documents
• Strong understanding of automotive systems and diagnostic techniques
