What will this role achieve? Pladis operates in a highly competitive market within both the branded and private label sectors. Within pladis, packaging proficiency is a key opportunity area to drive value, innovate and simplify how we run our business. As Head of Packaging Development, you will lead the packaging program for savoury brands, ensuring the alignment of resources, skills and capabilities to deliver the innovation pipeline, value improvement, and future packaging technology solutions. The role will also help to implement the pladis packaging materials sustainability strategy for the Savoury Portfolio. As a member of R&D, you will lead on the definition and implementation of Packaging productivity opportunities across the full UK&I packaging portfolio and represents R&D Packaging Development in regional partner reviews. Key Relationships: Forming strategic partnerships with Head of Product Development, Marketing Director, and Commercialisation Controller for Savoury sector as well as core partnership with Regional and Global procurement leads. What will be your key deliverables? Delivery of Packaging programme for the pladis savoury portfolio, working closely with Marketing and Product Development Lead a team of Packaging professionals to identify and qualify new package design & development building blocks (materials, technologies, functionalities) to provide savoury Brands with superior consumer experience, on time, cost and quality. Lead the Efficiency pillar for the UK&I Packaging Development Strategy agenda. Defines and drives the R&D productivity strategy for full UK&I packaging portfolio including identification of future pipeline of cost out opportunities Budget management for the Savoury part of the packaging program. Work with marketing director/s and customer teams to drive formats programme (PFF) aligned to channel strategy for savoury portfolio to ensure optimised formats aligned to price points, consumer needs and shopper missions. Work across key internal interfaces (Operations, MKT, Procurement, SQSE) to reach the best collective efficiency, short term, midterm. Approval ownership of packaging specifications, ensuring consistent and high level of content, and implementation regional aligned processes for the savoury portfolio Help deliver pladis Sustainability targets and initiatives for different packaging material groups within the Savoury portfolio Bring your experience Degree (or equivalent) in Packaging, Engineering. Technical mastery of packaging development (developing and implementing innovative packaging solutions, as an expert in multiple packaging technologies). Previous successful experience of developing, leading and delivering portfolio of projects combined with excellent communication, influencing and project management skills. High level of understanding of packaging/equipment interface and development tools with appropriate material, design, consumer research, analytical and supply chain insight Desirable: 5-8yrs Food packaging development experience Sustainability WK / LE.
