Position Details High School Athletic DirectorPreferred Qualifications:● Master’s degree in K-12 Administration or Athletics Administration preferred.● Minimum of five years experience as a teacher and coach preferred.● Knowledge of the overall operation of an athletic program.● Knowledge and experience in the college/NCAA recruiting process is preferred.● Knowledge of and experience with equitable funding of athletic programs.● Knowledge of Title IX practices and procedures. Responsibilities:● Maintains, organizes, and administers the overall program of interscholastic athletics in accordance with existing policies, rules, and regulations of the Okemos Public Schools Board of Education and the Michigan High School Athletic Association.● Maintain accurate budget records and ensure proper money handling.● Assists in selecting, assigning, developing, training, and evaluating all coaching personnel to maximize student experience and ensure clear boundaries are set and maintained.● Represents the District with the MHSAA; league, conference, and state meetings.● Organizes and schedules athletic events.● Enforces the athletic code of conduct, processes violations, and communicates with parents of the athletes.● Leadership and coordination for multiple athletic department functions and events such as student advisory group, Okemos Hall of Fame, and OHS Boosters.● Responsible for promoting and marketing Okemos athletics and athletes through television programming, social media, website, and other avenues.
