About the Role

AKD has a long-standing and successful Apprenticeship Program with over 70 apprentices in training across our business. Applications are now open for motivated, hands-on candidates to join our experienced and qualified team as Wood Machinist Apprentices at our Colac site.

A Wood Machinist is a highly skilled trade in the sawmilling industry, and this profession is in high demand across the sector. Skilled machinists are essential to timber production, and this apprenticeship offers a stable, long-term career path with excellent growth opportunities.

What You'll Learn

As an Apprentice Wood Machinist, you will complete a Certificate III in Wood Machining in 3-4 years and gain skills in:

1. Operation of wood machining equipment
2. Understanding of wood properties
3. Quality control procedures
