About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an energetic and highly experienced Maintenance Electrician to join their technical services team. This role requires a multi-skilled professional who can provide comprehensive electrical and mechanical support across their advanced processing facilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong fault-finding abilities and a practical, hands-on approach to maintaining and improving sophisticated production equipment in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance & Technical Support
• Provide expert breakdown, preventative, and reactive maintenance to sophisticated production and packaging machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal equipment performance
• Conduct thorough diagnosis and repair of complex machinery and plant equipment, implementing timely solutions to maintain continuous production operations
• Execute planned maintenance routines and condition monitoring activities to achieve and improve plant uptime targets, supporting production output objectives
• Assist with the professional installation and strategic relocation of processing equipment and machinery, ensuring compliance with electrical standards and safety regulations
Fabrication & Mechanical Engineering
• Perform precision fabrication work including chute construction, sensor bracket fabrication, and safety guard manufacturing to support equipment modifications and improvements
• Demonstrate expertise in working with stainless steel and execute high-quality TIG welding for equipment repairs, modifications, and custom fabrications
• Fit and assemble metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate, repair, and maintain production machines and specialised processing equipment
• Apply comprehensive technical skills across multiple engineering disciplines including pneumatics, hydraulics, and conveyor systems to support diverse maintenance requirements
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
• Investigate complex technical problems systematically, determining root causes and implementing effective, sustainable corrections to prevent recurrence
• Develop and implement improved maintenance strategies and preventative maintenance routines to enhance equipment reliability and performance
• Support production teams in achieving output targets through proactive equipment monitoring, rapid response to breakdowns, and strategic technical improvements
• Manage plant shutdown activities, coordinating maintenance tasks and upgrades to maximise equipment availability and operational efficiency
Essential Qualifications & Experience
• Currently A-Grade Electrical Licence is essential
• Appropriate Engineering/Trade Qualification with proven post-trade experience in a similar industrial maintenance role
• Demonstrated experience with plant shutdowns, breakdown management, and maintenance within a continuously operating manufacturing or FMCG facility
• Qualifications and practical experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, and welding (TIG and Arc)

• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to make sound technical decisions under pressure
• Comprehensive knowledge of various maintenance methodologies and root cause analysis techniques
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating strong autonomous working capabilities
