Developed to serve the needs of the Utopia community and surrounding homelands, Urapuntja prides itself on its deep connection to community and outstanding health service results. Urapuntja provides services to a population of about 600 to 1000 permanent residents who live in 16 homeland communities. They are unique in that they deliver an outreach service to all 16 outstation communities every week and their primary clinic is not in the middle of the community. The role is FIFO 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off. Flights will be provided by the Health Service to and from a capital city per swing. The clinic is quite unique in that it is not embedded in an Aboriginal township, rather it has been purpose built on Aboriginal land, and the staff housing has been built around it, so it forms its own little community. As a result, the living conditions are very peaceful, with local brumbies wandering around the site. The clinic supports 16 outstations/communities in the homelands, with a combination of on-site (in clinic) consultations, as well as regular outreach visits.
