Position Overview:

Team and Responsibilities:
The Competition Legal team provides specialist advice and support for the Group’s strategic projects, including:
- Providing day-to-day competition law advice, industry initiatives, advocacy, M&A advice, and strategy.
- Advising on Group projects, partnerships, and structuring arrangements.
- Leading the Group’s engagement with the ACCC, including authorisations, inquiries, proceedings, and investigations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior member of the Competition Legal team, offering specialist competition law advice to CBA’s business units regarding products, services, transactions, and activities.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders and senior management, providing insights on competition risks and enforcement strategies.
- Manage external legal engagements on specific matters as needed.
- Contribute to team culture by excelling in customer service, process simplification, and continuous improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Legal Counsels and Junior Legal Counsels when opportunities arise.
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years PQE with a current practising certificate. Experience in heavily regulated industries (banking, energy, telecommunications, pharma, transport) is advantageous.
- Deep expertise in competition law, strong analytical skills, and experience engaging with the ACCC or other regulators.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups and drive commercial outcomes.
- Ability to lead responses to complex regulatory investigations and coordinate regulatory engagement across large organizations.
- Commitment to best practices in legal service delivery with a solutions-focused approach.
