Key central agency leadership roleOversee and coordinate major Government prioritiesSupport to the Chief Minister and Cabinet in delivery The Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet plays a vital role in the economic, social and environmental development of the Northern Territory. It achieves this through driving coordination and leadership across government to support the delivery and implementation of whole-of-government priorities, providing high quality policy advice and services to the Chief Minister, several Ministers and Cabinet in general, and representing the Territory as First Secretary in national fora. Reporting to the Chief Minister, the Chief Executive Officer leads a Departmental workforce of around 500 staff across the functional areas of Investment/Major Projects, Regional Growth, Strategic Policy (Intergovernmental, Legal, Strategic Aboriginal, Social, Economic and Environmental), the Office of the Parliamentary Counsel and the Gas Taskforce. As CEO you will have a holistic perspective of the function of the entire government, possess sharp political acumen, strong engagement skills to influence all parts of government to move forward in concert, the confidence and experience to provide wise counsel, an exceptional record of leadership in a complex public policy environment, and experience in the management of a diverse organisation to provide quality service delivery and business outcomes. With the agency’s specific responsibility for unlocking opportunities for Aboriginal Territorians and preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies, prior significant senior experience in these areas will be valued.
