The Role Due to a strong pipeline of exciting projects, our client is looking to grow their legal team in Melbourne. This role will work closely with the Regional Legal Counsel, General Counsel, and Regional Directors of the business. You will be responsible for offering legal support to the company. Additionally, you will: Provide strategic advice and legal guidance on both upstream and downstream contracts Provide high-quality commercial and legal support and contractual leadership to a growing portfolio of complex and diverse projects across all business streams Advise or facilitate external legal advice on material business issues and/or bespoke matters Review, draft, and/or negotiate a range of agreements Assist internal clients to manage legal risk while aligning with business and strategic goals and priorities The Candidate The successful candidate will be a talented construction lawyer with 4+ years’ PAE. You will have relevant construction experience at a well-regarded law firm or similar in-house role. In addition, you will have: Experience in drafting and negotiating both upstream and downstream contracts An ability to understand the bigger picture and to prioritise multiple tasks arising across multiple business lines Quality training (either in private practice or in-house)An ability to provide pragmatic and timely legal advice within a complex commercial and operational setting Clear and persuasive written and spoken communication skills Negotiation and drafting skills Familiarity with the building, infrastructure, and engineering landscape in Australia.
