Description

Director Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs

Country to Coast QLD (CCQ) is a dynamic, purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation working to improve health outcomes across a diverse region from the Sunshine Coast to Rockhampton. We’re committed to building stronger, more connected communities across Central Queensland, Wide Bay, and the Sunshine Coast.

About the role

This is a full-time maximum term role for 5 years.

The Director Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD) will be an experienced health leader who can provide strategic leadership in embedding a reformative approach to the delivery of Mental Health Suicide Prevention and Alcohol and other Drugs Services across our entire region. In addition to achieving a more effective, networked, integrated and sustainable mental health service system, this role will provide transformational regional leadership by implementing a shared vision, creating a collaborative sense of purpose, measurable actions and digital and data innovations to effect significant reform, while always keeping consumers and our community at the centre of the design process.

The role will work collaboratively with key partners, stakeholders and those with lived experience to design innovative approaches to improve MHAOD service delivery and outcomes. These relationships will recognise the diverse and complex system which contributes to wellbeing and be necessary in building broad partnerships which have not traditionally been within the remit of MHAOD services, such as local councils and education providers.

While the position will ensure appropriate delivery on schedules of work determined by the Australian Government funding for Primary Mental Health Care and Drug and Alcohol Treatment Activities, CCQ has also set aspirational targets to ensure health equity is at the heart of the work we do, so understanding and supporting vulnerable communities and priority populations is paramount. Additionally, like most health systems, workforce remains a significant challenge, therefore innovation must be a priority moving forward.

About you

Applicants will have extensive leadership experience managing complex Mental Health systems, services and cross sectoral engagement. The ideal candidate will:

  1. Lead, deliver, embed and measure the MHAOD Reform program for CCQ.
  2. Set the priorities and the program of work for MHAOD Reform, including iterative improvements informed by ongoing evaluation.
  3. Work with existing and new providers to build a network of services that integrate existing systems and resources to manage competing priorities to meet objectives of a range of Commonwealth programs.
  4. Contribute proactively to the Executive Leadership Team, facilitating exceptional organisational performance.
  5. Ensure strong visible leadership, advocacy and communication across the region as it relates to MHAOD Programs to enhance ongoing reform processes.
  6. Develop and manage effective, professional relationships and networks with stakeholders, consumers, suppliers, government and peak body representatives.
  7. Lead and develop a strong MHAOD team within the organisation.
  8. In partnership with key stakeholders, develop and implement innovative projects and programs that are both responsive to local needs, disaster responsiveness and enhance service and system integration.
