Senior Policy/Projects Advisor - Strategic Projects and Response Coordination (VPSG5).About the role: The Yoorrook Justice Commission – Australia's first, and an internationally significant, truth-telling body – was formally launched on 24 March 2022. Victoria Police is committed to supporting the Commission's truth-telling process. To coordinate Victoria Police's role in this important work and undertake related strategic projects, we have established the Yoorrook Justice Commission Response Taskforce. The Taskforce comprises a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers, policy and research professionals, archivists and records officers, and police members. Working in the Taskforce provides an opportunity to contribute to an official record of the impact of colonisation on Traditional Owners and First Peoples in Victoria. We will work towards healing, system reform and practical changes that will increase cultural awareness and safety across Victoria Police, continue to improve our practices and look toward building trust with the community. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Policy and Projects Advisor to engage in a diverse range of project and coordination work and system reform. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Policy and Projects, Yoorrook Justice Commission Response Taskforce. Your duties will include: managing and contributing to portfolios of responsive and project work coordinating, reviewing, and drafting responses and submissions working with Victoria Police's Aboriginal portfolio including engaging with external stakeholders engaging in a range of communications across Victoria Police delivering high quality, well-considered advice to senior management undertaking complex research in response to notices received by the Yoorrook Justice Commission. As the successful applicant, you will have: understanding and/ or knowledge of working effectively and respectfully with Aboriginal communities and/ or peoples in a culturally safe and sensitive manner proven experience managing a large and demanding workload in a dynamic environment proven experience managing projects and providing policy and project related advice to senior management experience in preparing complex written reports and submissions problem solving skills that focus on providing solutions that are viable and evidenced based demonstrated ability to monitor client and stakeholder expectations and effectively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for all parties involved. Requirements and relevant information: One (1) x fixed term until 30/06/2024, full time position. Part-time or other flexible work arrangements including remote working will be considered. Position location is Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands. The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
