The role of the General Practitioner is to, in collaboration with the Senior Medical Officer, other managers and staff, implement the relevant objectives of the organization by ensuring that the clinical services deliver a supportive, culturally appropriate, effective, and efficient service in order that the health needs of clients and the community are met. Their mission is, “to provide high-quality, culturally appropriate, and holistic healthcare which builds strong and healthy Aboriginal Communities.”The Opportunity As a General Practitioner (GP or Primary Health Doctor), you will join the outreach teams. Part of your responsibilities will be: Work collaboratively with other GPs and the wider health team to ensure the best healthcare available through professional development and ongoing learning and upskilling. Provide in-clinic care to clients for acute and chronic conditions. Diagnose and treat a diverse range of conditions and ensure the provision of top-quality primary healthcare. Work closely across our multidisciplinary team. Engage in care coordination, health promotion, and preventive medicine. Refer clients to needed allied health services. Use cultural understanding and culturally appropriate care and communication in everything you do. Diagnose, treat, and prevent human physical and mental disorders and injuries. Registration or licensing is required. Examine and question patients to determine the nature of their disorders and illnesses, and record their medical information. Order and interpret laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures to assist in diagnosis. Provide comprehensive care for patients. Monitor patients' progress and response to treatments. Advise patients on strategies that help prevent and treat diseases and disorders. Refer patients to specialists. Coordinate the admission of patients to hospitals. Hold current AHPRA general registration and either FRACGP or FACRRM specialist fellowship. Thrive in collaborative team environments. Have a high level of cultural awareness. Open to learning and growing in relation to providing culturally safe care. Have a valid driver's license.
