The General Manager - Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) plays a pivotal role in shaping and driving the lifelong learning agenda of the University of Adelaide. This position is instrumental in executing the University's strategic initiatives related to non-award education, which includes developing innovative programs, expanding educational offerings, and fostering strategic partnerships that enhance the University's market presence in lifelong learning. As the General Manager, you will oversee the comprehensive management and strategic direction of the PACE unit, ensuring it is responsive to the evolving needs of learners, industry, and the broader community. This role requires a transformational and aspiring leader who can interpret complex information from multiple sources to innovate and drive the future direction of PACE. You will be responsible for developing and delivering a portfolio of commercially viable educational programs that align with the University’s broader learner attraction and revenue generation strategies. The role demands a proactive approach to business development, with a focus on expanding the program's market reach and ensuring financial sustainability. You will work closely with the Executive Director of Education Transformation and the broader Division of Academic and Student Engagement leadership team to align the PACE unit’s goals with the University’s strategic priorities. In this role, you will also be responsible for external engagement, building strong relationships with corporate clients, government departments, and industry partners to address their educational needs and leverage the University’s resources effectively. Your leadership will be crucial in establishing PACE as the preferred provider of lifelong learning in South Australia, driving both the reputation and financial performance of the University’s continuing education initiatives. To be successful you will need: Extensive and demonstrable experience in leading a high profile, commercially teaching and learning, business unit in the Higher Education sector, or private enterprise. A thorough understanding and ability to respond to the needs of learning markets both domestically and internationally, including drivers, outcomes and skills for the future. Extensive and demonstrable skills in effective results orientated strategic and business planning; leading and managing change; and the sustainability of business operations. Extensive and demonstrable experience in successfully collaborating and partnering with corporate and government agencies in the provision of PACE programs including financial viability, scalability and contemporary skills alignment. Highly experienced in leading sales and marketing teams and associated outreach campaigns that foster and maintain relationships with external customers complemented with the proven ability to identify and respond to PACE opportunities across industry sectors.
