About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Forklift Driver to join their dynamic logistics team. This role requires a skilled operator with comprehensive knowledge of material handling equipment and warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in forklift operation, inventory management, and equipment maintenance, ensuring the efficient and careful handling of high-value agricultural and FMCG products within our client's advanced storage and distribution facilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Material Handling & Equipment Operation
• Expertly operate forklift controls to precisely align equipment and manipulate lifting mechanisms for safe stacking and unstacking of goods in warehouse, cold storage, and processing environments
• Transport and position goods with care and precision to designated storage areas, maintaining product integrity and adhering to strict handling requirements for temperature-sensitive items
• Utilize specialized forklift systems including rail-guided and electronically controlled equipment to navigate narrow aisles and optimize storage space utilization
• Implement systematic storage methodologies to ensure goods are positioned in correct locations according to product type, batch codes, and dispatch requirements
Inventory Management & Quality Control
• Execute accurate placement and retrieval of goods within storage systems, ensuring optimal organization for efficient order picking and inventory management
• Monitor and maintain proper storage conditions for different product categories, paying particular attention to temperature-sensitive items and their specific handling requirements
• Conduct regular visual inspections of stored goods, identifying and reporting any damage, quality issues, or storage inconsistencies to supervisors
• Collaborate with inventory control teams to maintain accurate stock location records and support efficient warehouse layout management
Equipment Monitoring & Maintenance
• Continuously monitor forklift performance through visual inspection of gauges, instruments, and computerized monitoring systems, ensuring optimal equipment operation
• Conduct comprehensive pre-operational equipment checks and routine inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential mechanical issues before they impact safety or performance
• Perform basic servicing tasks and minor repairs on forklift equipment, including battery maintenance, tyre pressure checks, and lubrication requirements
• Complete accurate equipment maintenance records and report significant mechanical faults to maintenance teams for prompt professional attention
Safety Compliance & Operational Excellence
• Implement and maintain strict adherence to all workplace health and safety protocols, including load capacity limits, speed restrictions, and pedestrian separation measures
• Coordinate effectively with warehouse teams, logistics coordinators, and quality assurance staff to optimize workflow and meet dispatch deadlines
• Participate in regular safety meetings and equipment training sessions, continuously updating skills and knowledge to enhance operational safety and efficiency
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, contributing to overall warehouse safety standards and operational efficiency
Essential Qualifications & Experience
• Current Forklift Licence (LF class) with excellent operational record
• AQF Certificate II in Warehousing Operations or equivalent qualification, combined with minimum 1.5 years full-time experience in a similar forklift operation role
• Demonstrated experience operating various forklift types in FMCG, agricultural, or temperature-controlled environments
