About the Role

You will provide clinical leadership through oversight and advice to ensure health services are able to meet the changing needs of patient health care. You will provide mental health assessment and intervention strategies for inmates at an advanced and extended clinical nursing level, to promote the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, demonstrating initiative and flexibility in an environment subject to pressure and change.

About You

You are an enthusiastic and dedicated Nurse Practitioner or transitioning to Nurse Practitioner with extensive clinical expertise in Mental Health, committed to providing service excellence to everyone in your care. By using innovation and lateral thinking you strive to identify opportunities to work more effectively, enabling you to provide the best possible health service to those in your care. You are a compassionate and nurturing individual with an understanding of working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. You’re a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything that you do.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Masters level – mental health or equivalent
Endorsement by the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia (NMBA) to provide patient care in an advanced and extended clinical role as a Nurse Practitioner
Minimum 5 years full time equivalent experience in mental health nursing
Knowledge of the principles of prevention and harm minimisation
Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral forms

This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes national police check and Department of Justice Clearance as an essential selection component for this role.
