Description
Senior Manager ESG & Decarbonisation Advisory Palaris Australia Pty Ltd Health, Safety & Environment (Mining, Resources & Energy) Want to work at a more strategic level? Get involved globally at the forefront of project financing and mine decarbonisation. Our promise to you is diversity: Diversity of work, technical and financial focus, country & commodities Stop doing the same old same old, and start doing this: Work with global banks and funds to undertake ESG due diligence and loan monitoring, working hand in glove with our technical teams and a wide range of industry leading environmental and social specialist consultants. Advise on bridging the gaps between mining development studies and ESG activities for our Owners Study Management mandates, providing insights into alignment and optionality. Further develop our front-end decarbonisation services working closely with our engineering implementation and financial analysis teams to identify and prioritise emissions reduction pathways for existing and new mines. Directly shape and develop our ESG and decarbonisation advisory strategies globally across our offices, as we integrate them further with our technical advisory. Gain freedom, flexibility, a wholistic company view and influence. We want you to go beyond being just another cog in a large machine. So, who is Palaris? While we may be new to ESG advisory, we’ve been around for over 24 years as a trusted mining advisor. Operating across Australia, UK, Canada and South Africa we’ve completed over 4,000 projects delivered in over 50 countries across 20 different commodity types. We work with the world’s leading financial institutions, equity investors, government agencies and mining companies big and small. Our service delivery is across mine advisory, feasibility and mine optimisation studies, engineering and asset management, safety, health & risk, and decarbonisation. About the opportunity Based in our Newcastle, Brisbane or Perth offices and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a newly created role to facilitate the gap between the technical and ESG sides of mine finance due diligence and study management, plus take on responsibility for the front-end of our decarbonisation services. You will take a hands-on approach to dealing with our clients, providing them advise based on your career experience, and organically grow or recruit the skills to undertake your proposed strategy for delivery of ESG and decarbonisation advisory globally. We’re not an environmental services firm so you won’t get stuck on the mundane everyday run of the mill work. You will be the go-to generalist our clients want to talk to, while you coordinate our existing network of external local environmental and social specialists who know the realities of the jurisdictions they operate in, to oversee delivery of detailed and tailored audits and reviews. Our existing decarbonisation services comprise front-end assessment and advice to our clients for prioritised pathways to lower emissions, and back-end implementation engineering to make the opportunities reality. You will drive the front-end, working with your own team alongside our analysts and engineers as the first point of call for miners seeking to decarbonise. What you will personally gain from doing this role Genuine autonomy to create and implement a global ESG and decarbonisation strategy. Gain further technical knowledge working directly with a variety of in-house engineering disciplines. Build your own brand with global lenders and investors. Get or gain further experience in mine project finance due diligence and monitoring in a range of commodities. Stay on the cutting edge of decarbonisation technologies and trends. Work in a city-based role with opportunities to visit a range of sites. Access flexible work arrangements split between one of our offices and home. Have a lot of laughs along the way with an informal team in a very flat structure. Skills – have you got the right combination? An environmental or social science related degree. Demonstrated experience in review and audit to Equator Principles, IFC performance standards and EBRD performance requirements. Significant career experience across environmental and social approvals, baseline studies and environmental monitoring. Previous experience in both mining companies and consulting roles across regions would be favourable. Does this sound like you? Ready to chat to our Chief Operating Officer, Ben Hammond? ‘Apply Now’ and send us your resume and we will be in touch. Early applications are encouraged as the recruitment process will commence immediately. Your application will include the following questions: Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia? Do you have a current Australian driver's licence? Are you available to travel for this role when required? Reviews from people working in the industry
