About the role: As Managing Director, Head of Operations, Oceania your responsibility will be to lead the BAU and strategic Operations functions for the Oceania region. The Operations Department is the core processing centre for the execution of all transactions undertaken by customers of the Bank, with the Sydney Operations Group processing transactions on behalf of Front Office businesses for the Sydney, Auckland, Melbourne and Perth. The department consists of several core teams including: Corporate Loans Securitisation and Agency Operations Trade Services Bank Guarantees Payment Services Operational Support and Documentation Treasury Operations Business Liaison What you’ll be doing: Reporting to the Head of Oceania with a dotted reporting line into the Head of Operations Office for Asia, you will oversee all Operations functions for Oceania. Your core coverage and responsibilities will be to: Partner with the Head of Oceania Branch, Oceania Executive Committee members and regional Operations leadership to develop and lead the Banking Operations strategy within Oceania, ensuring alignment to the Bank’s global and regional vision. Lead the Operations department within the Branch to provide timely and cost-effective transaction processing for all deposit, trade finance, loan, money transfer and treasury transactions. Responsible for ensuring the Operations department operates within the parameters of the local regulations. Comply with “Principles for operations & systems management enhancement” issued by Global Operations Planning Division and be expected to support the Head of Operations for the region to promote global initiatives for operations & systems. As a member of the branch Executive Committee, contribute to the business planning, performance, culture, monitoring and governance of Oceania Branch. What we are looking for: 10 years’ experience in banking or financial services with 5 years’ experience as an Executive or Senior Leader preferably within Banking Operations Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Information Technology or Computer Science or related area Experience working in and reporting to senior leaders in complex matrixed global organization Broad and extensive knowledge of all aspects of Banking Operations, specifically deposit, export, import, commodities trade, loan, money transfer and treasury transactions Strong understanding of local banking regulatory environment and regulations Extensive experience in program or project management responsible for driving transformation or change.
