A high-profile Government Agency with a diverse portfolio known for their interesting subject matter and accounting. The finance team is Canberra based.
The Opportunity
This CFO role is offered as a permanent s26 transfer or 12-18 month non-ongoing contract opportunity under a highly regarded SES Band 1 Head of Corporate that we have worked with for many years.
Your experience will be highly valued, and you will be asked to drive a number of key finance and corporate projects. You will inherit a good performing and stable team, evolve finance processes, and help uplift staff capability. The team enjoys a healthy/balanced culture of working in the office and from home.
The Role
The role covers elements of:
- Departmental and administered financial reporting
- Annual financial statements
- Position papers and policies on financial accounting matters
- CBMS / Department of Finance liaison
- Assets accounting
- Internal Budgets
- External Budgets (important, but not central to the role)
- Divisional business partnering
- Financial governance/controls
- Taxation compliance
You are a professionally qualified accountant with a strong technical background who has progressed into management roles where you are a proven leader at EL2 level, ideally with CFO experience (though not required).
You will have strong stakeholder engagement capabilities, well-developed analytical skills and are an APS finance expert that also has commercial acumen given there are revenue generating areas of the entity.
Given the team currently have a number of projects in train, you are up for a challenge, and motivated to work beyond the BAU.
Salary / Rate
- $150k - $180k + Super (IFA considered)
- Only Australian Citizens will be considered for this role and a NV1 clearance will be required once in the role
