We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services. Services are free, voluntary, accredited and delivered by professional and committed staff.The Safe Space Program has been set up to provide an immediate solution for those who are sleeping rough in NW Tasmania. It will provide safe shelter at night with emotional well being and physical support to those who use the program.We are currently seeking an experienced and values-driven Case Manager to provide immediate emotional and physical support/comfort to participants.You will successfullyEngage with rough sleepers and participants to develop rapport and trustProvide immediate emotional and physical support/comfort to participants Make participants feel safe/wanted/comfortable while ensuring they understand the house rules to be able to use the shelter for the night: (operating in a harm minimisation environment, with no alcohol or drugs allowed on the premises)Assess each participant to ensure it is safe to provide shelter for the night; reviewing their safety and the safety of others if they are under the influence of drugs/alcoholCollect brief personal data about their current situation (with their consent)Provide participants with information about other support services they can access to assist them move into transitional housing/supportDevelop a short individual plan to identify and assess their immediate needsEnsure the highest levels of confidentiality and privacy are maintained for each participantThis is a casual position.You will haveMinimum of Diploma level qualification in a relevant disciplineProvide assistance to other team members (staff/volunteers/ program team leader) so that a co-ordinated and collaborative approach is adopted from the outsetExperience in social work, community welfare, mental illness, drug & alcohol dependency, nursing or other relevant experienceDemonstrated ability to work with vulnerable individuals and people under the influence of drugs and alcoholDemonstrated ability to show initiative, prioritise and solve problems in a challenging and dynamic environmentEnsure highest levels of information exchange to support the best outcomes for participants and staff safety.Acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of health and AOD services.Acquire and maintain a good working knowledge of referral and support options for participants.Work collaboratively and professionally with other servicesA current TAS Drivers LicenceValid TAS Employee Working with Vulnerable Persons CheckAbility to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in AustraliaThe Salvation Army is subject to public health orders.
