The opportunity:Ashurst has Australia's leading financial regulation practice, covering all segments of the financial services sector across banking, insurance and funds management, including the institutional and retail sectors. It is an area of strategic growth for Ashurst in Australia and globally.We are currently seeking to grow a segment of our practice which has a particular focus on accountability, governance, risk management and compliance, conduct risk and culture, among a variety of other topics across the financial services industry. Typical work includes the following: Banking Executive Accountability Regime (BEAR) / Financial Accountability Regime (FAR): implementing and advising on BEAR/FAR. Routinely advising Boards and Executive Committees on mitigating and managing exposures under the regime, including in relation to, for example, failures in product governance arrangements, large IT transformations and payments systems. Risk management and compliance frameworks. Product governance. Remuneration frameworks, with a focus on the management of non-financial risks. Environmental social and governance frameworks. Complaints handling frameworks, incorporating customer hardship considerations Breach reporting arrangements and advice Regulatory changes across prudential and conduct topics; investigations and enforcement.More information can be found in the job description attached to the role on our careers site. About you: Passion for regulation and for developing solutions to our clients' regulatory challenges. 4 to 8 years post qualification experience in financial services regulatory work (work at APRA /ASIC /large financial institution/big 4 consulting firm/private practice with a reputable law firm highly beneficial); Enthusiasm for intellectually stimulating cross-border work; Excellent client relationship skills; Ability to work as part of a team and as a self-starter showing initiative.
