General Manager, Statistical Services GroupAttractive remuneration package and benefits. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill a position of General Manager in the Statistical Services Group (SSG). This is an ongoing permanent position in the Australian Public Service, with the preferred location in either Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide. Perth and Hobart locations will also be considered. About the role We are seeking a Senior Executive to fill a General Manager vacancy in the Statistical Services Group. You will have 3-4 direct reports and be responsible for between 200-450 staff. As a General Manager you will have accountability to produce high-quality statistical products and insights.As a General Manager in our Statistical Services Group, your key accountabilities include:developing and maintaining strong relations with key Commonwealth, State/Territory and non-government stakeholdersoverseeing the Division’s work program to deliver high quality, responsive statistical productsdemonstrating and promoting expected cultural behaviours (self-aware, customer-focused, collaborative, accountable, adaptable and innovative)representing the ABS on high-level cross agency working groups, committees and international foramanaging the division’s current and forward year budget, including improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Divisionsupporting simplified and streamlined governance that enables transparent and responsive decision making and flexible resource allocationcontributing to and promoting ABS-wide initiatives beyond your specific divisional work program e.g. diversity, ongoing innovation.What we are looking for We will assess you on your ability to meet the following:leading change, managing risks and driving innovationleading people, driving high performance and building capability demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills, strategic thinking and sound judgementadept at delivering in an environment that involves deadlines and a commitment to quality effective client engagement skills, capable of designing solutions with the client at the centreawareness and understanding of the changing data and technology landscape knowledge of government prioritiesknowledge of statistics and/or an economics background while not essential will be highly regarded.About the area We offer you the opportunity to work for Australia’s largest producer of data, statistics and insights.
