Senior Manager, Compliance - Mercer Super

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Compliance, to join our Line 2 Risk and Compliance function at Mercer Super. This pivotal role supports the Head of Compliance in navigating the regulatory landscape and guides Mercer Super to deliver positive, compliant and risk aware outcomes for its 900,000+ members.

The position can be based in Melbourne or Sydney and is a hybrid role requiring 3 days in office per week.

Responsibilities

Oversee the Incident Management Process, complete breach assessments and work with the Line 1 Risk & Controls team to track and advise on the investigation and remediation of compliance incidents.
Support the maintenance of the Mercer Super Obligations Library and Business Unit Compliance Plans.
Support the Regulatory Change process, from identification through to implementation.
Complete due diligence reviews of externally facing regulated documents.
Provide specialised compliance advice, guidance, review and challenge to the Line 1 Risk & Controls team and Business Unit stakeholders.
Complete targeted Compliance Assurance reviews to assess the effectiveness of the compliance framework.
Contribute to the preparation and presentation of internal and external reporting.
Develop and execute conflicts of interest plans for senior leaders, ensuring they detail relevant interests and duties and highlight where conflicts exist.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and work collaboratively with the Mercer Mc Lennan compliance function.
Stay informed about industry trends and support the Head of Compliance in developing strategies to address compliance challenges.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in a compliance or legal function within the financial services industry, preferably in superannuation, with 3-5 years in a similar role.
Strong understanding of governance, risk, and compliance practices in a regulated superannuation fund.
Tertiary qualifications in a law or business-related discipline (preferred).

What Makes You Stand Out

In-depth knowledge of compliance and risk frameworks, with the ability to assess regulatory impacts and initiate change projects.
Demonstrated experience overseeing an incident management process and performing breach assessments, including managing reportable breaches and drafting regulatory communications – preferably in a superannuation context.
Demonstrated experience maintaining an obligations library and supporting obligation owners to manage and assess the effectiveness of their compliance arrangements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey compliance requirements and foster relationships across the organization.
Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, promoting a proactive approach to compliance.
