THE OPPORTUNITY The Director Skills Team - Innovative Manufacturing, Robotics & Science (IRMS) and Creative & Design Ideation (CDI) is responsible for providing leadership to a group of teaching teams to deliver high quality education and training and an outstanding student experience and enabling the Skills Team to achieve its objectives in alignment with the Student Experience Group plan. Key skills areas that you will be managing for CDI include Fine Arts, Design, Screen & Media, Music & Performing Arts and Fashion. Within IRMS the key skills areas are Engineering trades - Fitting & Machining, Metal Fabrication & welding, Automotive manufacturing, and laboratory operations. Reporting to the Executive Director Education & Skills North, you will play a vital role in leading the identification of opportunities for enhancing the student experience and implement continuous improvement processes to ensure teaching and learning outcomes are maximised. ABOUT YOU Adept at leading high performing teams in a dynamic environment, you are motivated to provide strong leadership, guidance, and support not only to your direct team but also to the Skills & Excellence Network (SEN) and other dispersed teams state wide. You will be willing to travel within the North Region and state wide as required. Your knowledge of industry and ability to provide strategic and educational advice on course delivery will be essential to achieve TAFE NSW’s objectives and excellence in education and training. You have impeccable communication skills, analytical and have the drive to take initiative and lead change. You have demonstrated ability in building trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders including local communities and industry partners. Crucially, you are someone who shares the TAFE NSW Values of Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence and Customer First. KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated educational leadership capabilities in VET teaching, learning and assessment practice. Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills across a broad range of client groups with diverse interests. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: Degree qualification in related field to IRMS and/or CDI or equivalent significant experience in vocational education and training. Highly Regarded: Trade qualification or degree in related field and equivalent significant experience in vocational education and training.
