As the Director IT Operations you will be responsible in managing the IT budget, driving continuous improvement, and maturing risk management outcomes within IT Operations. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and availability of services through effective monitoring, response, and resolution capabilities. Description As the Director IT Operations, you will be second-in-command to the HoIT and provide strong leadership and mentoring to the IT Operations team. Reporting to the Head of IT (HoIT), you will have a critical leadership role, responsible for overseeing and managing the IT infrastructure and operations within the business. You will : Develop and manage the Infrastructure and Operations roadmap, aligning IT strategies with business goals and objectives. Serve as the escalation point for major operational technology incidents, coordinating response efforts to minimize downtime and service disruptions. Provide strong leadership to the IT Operations team, empowering them to continually learn and improve processes to drive down incidents and enhance service stability. Lead the ongoing maturing of risk management outcomes, processes, and culture within the IT Operations department. Production Environment Integrity. Ensure that business has the necessary capabilities to maintain the integrity and availability of production environments. Provide technical leadership and expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues related to infrastructure services Manage operational and project budgets Compose complex business cases to secure capital funding for relevant programs of work to deliver the strategic roadmap As as a delegate to the Head of IT in chairing key governance boards including the Change Advisory Board & Architecture & Security Review Board Continually enhance IT Service Management maturity and incident management capabilities Serve as the senior escalation point for major incident management and manage Post Incident Review (PIR) outcomes. Manage large vendor contracts ensuring controls and reporting are developed, maintained and effective against contract objectives. Development of the vendor strategy and landscape with a clear view on capability and performance Liaise with and support the IT procurement manager, establish process for activity management and reporting of progress Be the key liaison with the enterprise comms team to ensure that Technology comms are timely and effective Profile To be successful in this role, you will have 10 years of working in a senior IT position within a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment, with at least 5 years with direct project management and people management experience. A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field is preferable. Your background will demonstrate: The candidate must demonstrate successful experience leading a team in the management of information technology and information systems. The Director IT Operations will also demonstrate experience with a wide variety of productivity and business software and have a proven track record of creative solution delivery and delivery on business needs. Experience of working with Defence is highly regarded Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals. Experience as a mentor and coach who is committed to developing talent and fostering a culture of learning and growth within the data team. Sound business acumen, ability to make decisions and improve business outcomes.
