Additional entitlements and overtime do not form part of the advertised base salary Location: Dalrymple Road Depot - Garbutt Application Close: 11:45pm, Wednesday 25 March 2026 In this hands on job, you'll be out in the field leading a crew and making sure small construction jobs and repairs in our parks and playgrounds get done safely, properly, and on time.
You'll look after the install, fix-up, and upkeep of heaps of Council's open space assets, keeping our playgrounds safe for the community and especially the kids who use them every day.
You'll run day to day site operations, organise the crew, sort out materials and equipment, and jump in with practical know how when problems pop up.
Safety's a big part of the gig - you'll keep an eye on traffic management, WH&S, site audits, and make sure everyone's working to Council's rules and standards.
You'll also watch the budget, report any delays, and help keep jobs on track.
Working with your Team Leaders and the technical guys, you'll help plan the work, keep communication clear, and make sure the team is supported to get the job done right.

Qualifications And Experience Our ideal candidate will have: Mandatory QLD working with children blue card (essential).
Current manual "C" class driver's licence with the ability to obtain an "MR" driver's licence.
Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
Certificate III in Horticulture or significant experience in managing on-ground operational crews in the delivery of allocated Horticultural work activities.
Demonstrated experience leading personnel in the construction of infrastructure related to park and open space assets.
Demonstrated experience of conducting basic survey and set out tasks.
Demonstrated experience in concrete laying and finishing.
Detailed knowledge of construction materials and their application.
Demonstrated experience in the application of Quality Assurance processes, in a civil construction environment.
Desirable Certificate associated with the successful completion of the Safe Working Near Live Exposed Parts training course.
Senior First Aid Certificate.
Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) accreditation under the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Part 3 2016) Trade based background - preferably construction landscape or carpentry (highly desirable).
Cert III Construction landscape qualification (highly desirable).
Knowledge and understanding of Australian Playground Safety Standards (AS4685:2021).
Previous experience of installation and maintenance of play equipment and parks assets.
