Join our Major Projects team as a Commercial Manager on the Hinkley Point C Project at Avonmouth and you'll be part of it.Role Purpose Responsible for the financial management of standard projects from inception, tendering to, negotiating and agreeing contracts, and then commercial delivering Projects often worth many millions of poundsProven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management and team leadershipExtensive understanding of the construction industry, flexibility and a talent for negotiation. Typically they will have a track record of managing and developing a commercial team.What you'll be doing As a Commercial Manager you will:Ensure that the commercial performance of all projects is monitored and reported, and business objectives are achieved.Protect BBMP's commercial position at all times, including evaluation, avoidance and / or mitigation of any potential commercial risks on projects and for the Ground Engineering business generally.Manage and lead the Commercial / Surveying function, ensuring correct operation of the Company's processes.Represent the Company in contract negotiations and meetings, ensuring that favourable terms and outcomes are obtained.Maintain good working relationships with other stakeholders, and be a key member of the management team.To be responsible for the financial control and payment of each sub-contractor, and to ensure that submissions for payments are received, evaluated and incorporated into BBGE's valuations for submission to the customer. Maintain proper control and substantiation of variations between the sub-contractor and BBGE.To compile and submit valuations at the minimum intervals permitted under the contract-sub contract, ensuring that these are maximised and that timely payment is received, to the benefit of the Company's cash flow.To provide guidance and support during the estimating process on such issues as contract conditions which need bringing to the attention of the Commercial DirectorTo exercise the skills of measurement and valuation to maximise value and minimise cost within the terms of the contract and sub-contracts applicable to each project.Who we're looking for The individual will have appropriate qualifications, and professional membership of the RICS, ICESor ICE is desirable.Hold a valid CSCS card.Evidence of recent management/leadership development is required.Significant commercial and management experience within the construction and piling industry.Strong understanding of technical piling issues is preferred.Proven senior manager level experience with a piling contractor managing multi-site activityProven track record of depth of experience in given field of commercial management.About us At Balfour Beatty we are committed to creating a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture where everyone can be themselves and reach their full potential, not only because this is the right thing to do, but because it makes us a better business.
