Chef Location: On-site (Ballarat, VIC) – Full‑time (38 hours per week)About Us Jalan Jalan Eats is a newly established restaurant in Ballarat, dedicated to bringing the authentic flavours of Malaysia to regional Victoria. We take pride in serving a diverse range of Malaysian dishes inspired by Malay, Chinese, and Indian heritage. Key Responsibilities Prepare and present authentic Malaysian dishes to a consistently high standard. Develop, plan, and update menus that showcase traditional and modern Malaysian cuisine. Cater to cultural and dietary needs of customers. Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, stock control, and hygiene standards. Maintain compliance with all food safety and cleanliness regulations. Minimise food wastage and manage food cost. Supervise and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation and service standards. Work closely with management to ensure smooth kitchen operation and customer satisfaction. Skills and Experience Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum required). Certificate IV and/or Diploma in Commercial Cookery (preferred). Proven expertise in preparing Malaysian cuisine including pastries, snacks, sweets, and drinks (Malay, Chinese, and Indian styles). Strong organisational and time‑management skills. Awareness of food safety and hygiene standards. Excellent teamwork and communication abilities. What We Offer Competitive annual salary of $77,000 – $87,000 (including superannuation).
