The Opportunity
Due to our Acciona, MACA, AECOM Alliance being selected as the preferred bidder on the northern package we are seeking to appoint a Traffic Engineering Manager working out of the Melbourne CBD office initially but moving to site as required.
The Project
The north package covers the design and construction of the North East Link between the M80-Plenty Rd interchange and the north tunnel entrance at Watsonia. Works include 2km of new freeway upgrade, 3km of new freeway, separation of local roads from the freeways, almost 2M.m3of earthworks, retaining walls, bridge structures, rail interface works, intelligent transport systems, urban design and landscaping. This diverse and challenging project will be completed by late 2028.
Key accountabilities for the position
Set up, implementation and ongoing management of traffic plans through all stages of the project
Management of a team of traffic engineers
Analyse and assess staging and operational strategies looking at risk and opportunities
Provide with traffic guidance system any traffic change and coordinate provisional change with appropriate authorities
Engage and manage various consultants and subcontractors on the project
Make the forecast and budget for all traffic related expenses during Project execution.
Manage the delivery of traffic engineering on time and within budget.
Ensure that appropriate technical standards requirements are maintained on Project.
Develop methodologies and appropriate costing to address client requirements.
Ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of all employees placed under your control or direction.
Notify supervisors or OH&S representative about hazards or other safety matters you are aware of.
Required Skills and Competencies
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction, risk management, traffic management or similar ideally with experience working for a contractor
Extensive experience developing traffic management solutions for high impact activities on roads as part of complex staged programs
Experienced manager with and ability to lead and mentor and deal with a range of stakeholders internally and externally
A skilled & capable project manager in relation to forecasting, programming and budget control
