Are you a visionary leader with a passion for engineering excellence and deep technical experience in platform engineering and building shared services?
We are seeking a Director of Engineering for our Core Experiences Camp who can lead our efforts in building and scaling our cutting-edge platform capabilities. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our platform. We’ve got a bold vision for where we want to take our platform and need someone who can lead us on this journey.
Your teams will help drive one of the most innovative features, combining our People Science knowledge with our employee surveys and performance data using the latest artificial intelligence technique. A real AI use case that can drive meaningful benefit to 25 million employees. Your teams will also drive core elements of the platform, including home, navigation and rolling out our design language.
As the Director of Engineering within a Camp leadership team, you will be accountable for all aspects of the engagement and growth of our talented engineers, delivery of the engineering roadmap, and the stability and quality of the Camp’s production assets. You will be an important conduit for ensuring the Core Experience Camp's engineering is done in collaboration with the wider engineering organisation, bringing all parts of our platform closer together.
As part of this team of amazing humans,
You will
Collaborate with the rest of your camp leadership team to ensure we have a structure that supports effective and efficient execution.
Work closely with the product management and design functions within your camp to ensure that your teams all have roadmaps that are appropriately estimated, viable and coherent.
In collaboration with our Chief Engineer, be accountable for all technical decisions made within your camp, and how they align to and support our overall tech vision.
Present clear and compelling plans that align with the group-wide product strategy.
Share, collaborate and align camp-level technical road-maps and strategies with senior engineering leads beyond your camp. Promote the sharing of technical decisions and knowledge.
In collaboration with our Talent Acquisition team, identify and hire to address the technical gaps within your camp and ensure that we are building diverse teams.
Directly maintain and grow your leadership team to be curious, intentional, and outcome-focused.
Take accountability for the technology hosting budget for all technical assets owned by the camp, ensuring appropriate tradeoffs are being made.
Take accountability for meeting all security best practices, government regulatory requirements and ISO/SOC2 compliance for all the assets owned by the camp.
You have
Extensive experience with platform engineering in fast-growth tech companies
A solid understanding of LLMs using RAG techniques
Frontend experience with a focus on design systems
Experience leading engineering teams of more than 20 engineers during the “scale-up” phase, ideally in the Saa S space.
Proven experience in connecting engineering to business outcomes, with a lens to the customer.
Understanding of operational excellence and how to improve the system of work to execute as effectively as possible.
Technical experience at all levels of the stack, from the low level all the way up to complete distributed architecture experience.
Exceptional people skills and experience leading multiple teams, as well as managing engineering leads and principal engineers.
Strong communication skills, both in one-to-one situations and one-to-many in a variety of mediums.
Been around engineering teams for long enough to know which questions to ask and to recognise when something is amiss.
A remarkable eye for talent and solid track record of developing engineers.
You are
A strategic thinker. You are someone who understands that we play the long game and that meaningful progress takes time to achieve.
An effective coach. You recognise that the key to success is to work through others, supporting and enabling leaders.
Accountable, with a strong bias for action. You set clear goals and expectations for yourself and others and create an environment for teams to thrive and deliver outcomes.
A strong leader. You are someone who can communicate a clear vision and strategy to everyone around it and create the structures and scaffolding necessary to execute successfully.
