Description
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Project Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia .
You will have strong experience in project engineering in rail systems and signalling, along with experience in real-time system engineering, testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices, and safety critical techniques. Experience in turnkey projects (within rail signalling), particularly delivering systems such as ETCS, ERTMS, and CBTC, is highly desirable.
Specialised responsibilities:
- Responsible for delivery of all TMS for the Alliance
- Responsible for the integration of the overall Alliance TMS
Key responsibilities:
- Support Engineering Manager in preparing reports, attending technical meetings, and supporting technical activities
- Implement the technical solution within the assigned scope
- Monitor document submission in terms of timeliness, quality, and respect of cost budget, according to the Contract, excluding RAMS
- Execute project technical activities in line with procedures, including design review
- Ensure project objectives are clearly communicated to the project team and that technical activities align with the project schedule
- Manage staffing, workload analysis, and resource allocation for specific activities
- Prepare, check, and submit TCNs. Once authorized, ensure that technical changes and variation orders are traced and implemented within design activities and included in the project cost revision
- Manage project technical criticalities/risk list, updating and evaluating them with the support of relevant managers
- Ensure proper Document Management (submission and transmittal process) as part of overall Design Management
- Contribute to the configuration management process
- Coordinate interface during on-site activities for technical definition and construction document delivery
- Guarantee the execution of verification activities for project engineering documents and documents issued by WPLs, according to the V&V Plan
- Contribute to the definition and execution of T&C activities, acting as interface with other technology units involved
- Ensure all activities are conducted with a focus on continuous improvement and safety
Key knowledge and experience:
- Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with a background in Systems Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in project management, preferably in rail, systems, and signalling
- Experience in real-time system engineering, testing, integration, software verification, validation, and safety-critical techniques
- Estimating and negotiation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in resource management and working with large teams
- Strong relationships with technology providers
- Agile mindset, capable of making prompt decisions in fast-paced settings
