The JobsSenior Rehabilitation Advisors provide tailored health case management services to injured and ill employees within the department and their managers. Senior Rehabilitation Advisors must critically analyse information and profile cases to strategically consider alternatives, identify and implement effective solutions, and risk manage matters. Working compassionately with clients, Senior Rehabilitation Advisors will use their knowledge of case management fundamentals, experience and insights to understand the client’s circumstances and offer a tailored, client and outcome focused approach to health case management. Senior Rehabilitation Advisors demonstrate resilience by welcoming new challenges and persistence when working through difficult issues, pushing the boundaries and constructively challenging current processes and procedures. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to tailor correspondence to a varied audience including senior executive, unions and other stakeholders are essential. Key tasks assigned to the position will include (but is not limited to): providing advice to stakeholders regarding rehabilitation supportestablishing a rehabilitation need and potential for return to workengaging and managing workplace rehabilitation providers to deliver return to work services where requiredengaging with treating and independent medical providers, including invalidity retirement and independent medical requestscoordinating and developing return to work programs or plans for injured or ill employees, in accordance with medical advicedriving return to work outcomes for employeesworking closely with Comcare to facilitate compensation outcomes.Please note that following the release of new Administrative Arrangement Orders, effective from 1 July some functions/roles within the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment will transition to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. If this role is identified to transition to the new agency, the applicable terms and conditions of employment may vary. What we are looking for Knowledge and experienceThe successful applicants will have: • strong understanding of contemporary case management strategies and how to apply them in the context of health and workers compensation management• knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Safety, Rehabilitation & Compensation Act (1988), Commonwealth Work Health & Safety Act (2011), Privacy Act, Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and leave, superannuation and employment related provisions of the Public Service Act etc or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge• the ability to quickly interpret, implement and explain internal rehabilitation, return to work and leave policies and procedures• demonstrated experience in health and/or workers compensation case management• allied health experience is an advantage in this role but not required.
