PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead and mentor a team of approximately 13 employees across three shifts.
Manage the region’s distribution centre to ensure products are stored securely and operational housekeeping is maintained to an appropriate standard.
Take full accountability for personal safety and well-being; develop an understanding of risk minimization and commit to achieving the highest possible standards for Safety, Health, and the Environment (SH&E).
Provide services to customers, ensuring standards and processes align with organizational goals and objectives.
Liaise with service providers (transport companies, suppliers, etc.) to ensure compliance with standards.
Communicate and endorse safety practices, monitor key safety performance indicators, and actively promote safety policies and initiatives.
Ensure appropriate equipment and support facilities are in place to fulfil customer orders within specified time and cost constraints.
Develop continuous improvement programs focused on safety, waste reduction, product quality, on-time delivery, and prioritization of customer orders.
Review operational issues and determine strategies for future requirements.
Perform any other duties as required by the role.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL
Experience in distribution operations.
Ability to develop, monitor, and maintain operational budgets.
Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to manage resources to achieve outcomes within specified timeframes.
Experience in motivating and training team members.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to liaise and negotiate with clients, suppliers, and industry associations.
Willingness to travel occasionally.
DESIRABLE
Experience in the building industry, with an understanding of its market forces and economic drivers.
Intermediate experience with SAP.
